Ride Description

TTHOG will depart Thunderbird HD KSU 0800 on Friday August 21st. Turn right on Alameda to the northbound I-25 ramp. After a quick 40 miles, exit at the 599 bypass around Santa Fe to join US 285. Head north on US 285 through Espanola to Hernandez for our 1st pit stop at Chevron, at 88 miles. We will turn right continuing on 285 as we climb into the mountains past Ojo Caliente. As we drop out of the mountains in northern NM, we will ride past San Antonito volcano into the southern plains of Colorado.  At the 108 mile point, lunch in Alamosa, CO at the Crazy Corner Cafe. See menu below. After lunch back on the bikes for 0.7 miles for a gas and go at Conoco. We jump on CO 17 north through the southern CO plains until we rejoin US 285 at Mineral Hot Springs. We start the climb into the mountains as we approach Poncha Springs. At the 98 mile point, last s pit top at Cenex in Buena Vista, CO. Right turn on US 24 for our last leg of 71 miles thru beautiful scenery in the Teller County Valley and front range of the Rocky Mountains.10 miles prior to Woodland Park we ride through Florissant and past the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. We should arrive about 4:00 PM to the Woodland Country Lodge ($149 per night), 719 687-6277.  Dinner at the Ute Lodge Bar and Grill at 5 pm, 0.6 miles from the hotel.  There are several other restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

Saturday morning KSU at 7:15 AM to Woodland Park High School for registration for the Rally. $10 per person cash only, with free 38th Annual Rally Pin while supplies last. We will pack tight in the school parking lot with several hundred bikes. Breakfast is available at the school with pancakes or burritos.  10:00 we depart on the POW/MIA Memorial highway for an escorted 27 mile ride. Every intersection is blocked off with hundreds of patriots lined along the road with American Flags proudly waving to salute our veterans. Once we arrive about 11:00 in Cripple Creek and park, kick stands are down where vendors, food, casinos, adult beverages, and an opportunity for fellowship with bikers from across the nation await! Return to Woodland Country Lodge is at your desired time.

Sunday morning departure to Albuquerque will be at your choosing, early, mid, and late KSU will develop, find someone you would like to ride with. Open Event: This event is open to Chapter members, National H.O.G. members and other guests as desired.  All riders and passengers must sign a release.

Alcohol consumption before or during a motorcycling activity is not safe, responsible behavior. Turquoise Trail Chapter #2015 does not allow the use of alcohol or drugs before or during a riding event* and does not furnish alcohol at Chapter rides. Riders whose skills are observed or suspected to be impaired by alcohol or drugs before riding cannot join the ride. Riders using alcohol or drugs while riding will be asked to leave the ride. It is the responsibility of each Template Chapter member to support the consistent enforcement of this policy
